Translation Team Review of 2019-2020
The 2019-2020 volunteering term is nearing it’s end, so we’re looking back at the fantastic people who have dedicated their time to making our community better!
Translation Team Achievements
Congratulations to SWJ’s first translation team! We’re so proud of the phenomenal work they have achieved in this short time!
We now are close to having full translations of all major website content in Spanish, French, and Mandarin. We’ve also been able to upload significantly more information in English from Japanese content sources this year.
Meet the Team
Jordan
Team Leader
Not only has Jordan been a fantastic resource translator in Spanish and French, but he’s also been instrumental in leading the team, overseeing projects and assisting with SWJ planning.
“My goal is to offer information and a sense of community to foreigners in Japan who aren’t familiar with English or Japanese. Japan can be a confusing place so I want to make it easier for speakers of other languages to access resources like mental and sexual health during their time in Japan. This couldn’t be done without the amazing translation team!”
Shao
Mandarin Translator
Thanks to her single handed effort we’re now able to support Mandarin content! This has been a large undertaking and Shao has been critical in removing this language barrier so that others can have access to necessary information.
Ellis
Japanese Researcher
Part researcher, part translator, Ellis has made a big difference this year by finding national and local information in Japanese and translating it into English! With her help, the translation team amplifies this information to make it available in multiple languages.
Want to join the translation team?
We think that’s awesome! Stonewall Japan is looking for more volunteers to help continue our Mandarin, Japanese, French and Spanish translations. We’re also looking to offer our website in new languages to share our resources with everyone in Japan!
